Library Clerk
This is a part-time position at the Thomas H. Raddall Library in Liverpool. Hours are 10-5 Wednesday, 10-8 Thursday, and 12-4 Sunday. Rate of pay: $17.51/hour.
Duties will include circulation of materials, shelving books, information services, reader’s advisory and library programming, and assisting users with public-use computers, library equipment, and mobile devices.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Strong ability to successfully multitask in a busy environment
- Ability to work independently while successfully promoting the mandate of the Library
- Strong customer service background

Technical Services Clerk
This is a full-time position at the South Shore Public Libraries administrative offices. Hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday to Friday. Rate of pay: $17.51/hour.
Duties will include preparing items for use on the Mobile Library, working with other staff to ensure new materials and requested items are ready for the public, ensuring items move between branches, receiving incoming mail and other deliveries, handling damaged materials, updating borrower records, and providing library service to the public.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Broad general knowledge of current events and popular culture
- Knowledge of the community served
- Strong customer service background
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
- Familiarity with computers required; knowledge of Library databases, especially those used by the 9 regional public library systems in Nova Scotia, an asset
- Current qualification in First Aid or willingness to become qualified in first year of employment
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license or reliable access to transportation
- Some lifting and carrying required
