  • Arrive on time, dress appropriate for the weather conditions; bring whatever you require for sustenance/water for the shift.
  • At H.Q. check with Branch Coordinator/Supervisor for any updated information or instructions.
  • Very little time is afforded before boarding the bus so when you arrive at H.Q. you must quickly assure that all patrons' requested books have been boxed up and two lists made of the patrons' names who have holds; one to be posted on the bus and one for H.Q. staff to call and tell patrons' holds are available for pick up.
  • Before leaving, go out on the bus and visually scan the Mobile shelves for any gaps in the collection, grab materials from the assortment on the H.Q. Mobile reserve shelves.
  • Say goodbye-let someone at H.Q. you’ve left.
  • When reaching your stop make sure your holds are in an orderly manner (alphabetically by last name). Sign on to Workflows/computer.
  • Greet patrons, act as reader advisor, take requests, and verify requests, place holds, field reference questions.
  • Check out materials, give patrons requested books, renew items, register new borrowers or modify registrations.
  • Shelve checked in materials, tidy shelves, shelf read and weed. The Driver/clerk who does the majority of the check ins also assists with check outs, registering patrons and if busy shelving.
  • Check staff email/forum. Respond where necessary. If we cannot connect to online this must be done at a H.Q. terminal.
  • Check Branch email (Mobile1, password: *******) for SIRSI holds list. Find what books you can on Mobile shelves and trap holds. Email B.C. if there are any collection gaps of materials that need to be collected and boxed up for bus shelves.
  • At the end of shift when Mobile has returned to H.Q., assist in carrying in boxes of books to be redistributed at H.Q. Take personal belongings and leave the bus tidy.
  • Put any not-picked-up requests back on appropriate shelves at H.Q .
  • Every few days empty the garbage.
  • Any forms, bookmarks, etc. that are required on the bus, I either photocopy for bus use or pass to B.C. to have them printed up.
  • Any supplies needed such as kleenex, wipers, office needs, I gather up or order by email from Sandra.
  • Bulletin Board posting and clean up.
  • Every few weeks or when required, set up different displays/décor and Spotlights.
  • Both L.A. and Driver have access to a H.Q. key and alarm code. Last leaving H.Q. must turn out lights, lock door and put alarm on.
