Book Club requests
Frequently Asked Questions about borrowing for book clubs
Q:If I know the title my club is going to read, can I ask for it in advance?
A: Please request your books at least one month before your meeting date.
Q: How many copies can I request?
A: We will try to get you up to 5 copies. It depends on how many copies are available.
Q: Should I have every member of the club request their own copy?
A: Pick one person from your group who will submit requests, pick up and return the books and take responsibility for them. She/he will be called when the copies arrive. If there are any lost, damaged or overdue books, he/she's the one who will be contacted. Your group should decide how this person will be reimbursed for any replacement costs or fines.
Q: How long can we keep the books?
A: Many book club sets are made up of books from other libraries through interlibrary loan. The loan periods are set by the lending libraries, so the length of time you can keep the books will vary. Renewals are often possible. If you think you need more time, please phone the Library to request a renewal at least 5 days before the current due date.
